This body of work started on the inspiration of a meditation painting course that I took online in May. For those of you how know me, following the directions of that course was a challenge. But I was intrigued with the idea of making art after a small yoga practice followed by some meditation. The works works that sprang from my fingertips were fairly thoughtless and more heartful.
I was about four or five into this and stepping back realized that the shapes had a familiar organic form. I realized I was painting uteruses. So maybe there’s something about being in possession of a 66-year-old uterus that had a need to get familiar with me.
I’m thrilled to have an experience of wide-open painterly expression for the first time in my life. Have a look-see.
